Merrimack County ranked third in state for resident earnings in 2017

Merrimack County ranked third among counties in New Hampshire by annual earnings per resident, according to data obtained from the U.S. Census Bureau in August.

The median income of Merrimack County residents was an inflation-adjusted $33,249 per year. Merrimack County had 57,247 households in 2017, with a population of 147,958.

The county with the highest median resident income in the state was Rockingham County. Rockingham County's median income was $39,666 per year after adjusting for inflation – $6,417 more than Merrimack County. It had 119,955 households in 2017 and a population of 302,479.

Coos County had the lowest annual resident income among counties in New Hampshire, with a median income of only $24,716 per year. That was $8,533 less than the median income in Merrimack County at the time. Coos County had 13,879 households in 2017 and a population of 32,119.
