Denim and Diamonds at The Fells

Event Description:

Who are our volunteers? They are two hundred of you, your friends, and your neighbors who are the ambassadors for the John Hay Estate at The Fells. Volunteers have always played an essential role in the John Hay Estate’s overall stability. For nearly 30 years, starting with the Friends of the John Hay National Wildlife Refuge, volunteers have provided organizational talent, funding, labor, and varied technical expertise. To this day the dedicated volunteer group continues to provide the ‘time, talent, and treasure’ that keeps the John Hay Estate at The Fells sustainable and thriving from year to year. In short, volunteers are the heart and soul of The Fells. Our dedicated group of volunteers has been overheard saying that volunteering at the John Hay Estate gives them “a rewarding sense of accomplishment and service.” At the John Hay Estate our volunteers experience a welcoming environment where they look forward to donating their time and expertise; and want to come back year after year to help The Fells. This is a place where there is a true affinity among volunteers, a greater sense of purpose and place, and a strong feeling of appreciation, satisfaction, and fun.

Like many organizations, the John Hay Estate at The Fells is always seeking to build and nurture our wonderful spirit of volunteerism and we hope that our Spring Ladies Night: Denim and Diamonds will help to acquaint new volunteers with the many different areas of the organization to volunteer. Opportunities include: office work, the maintenance team gang, the landscape and nursery, the Main House as a Docent or a Greeter or in the Shop, flower arranging, cultural events like concerts, education events like Hay Day or Fairy Festival, the Plant Sale, or even baking for one of our events! No matter whether you have a lot of time or just a little there are plenty of opportunities for you.

 

We invite the ladies to don your favorite denim, add some sparkle and a mask, and join us for a fun volunteer recruiting evening. Learn about the John Hay Estate at The Fells and what it takes to volunteer while you enjoy cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, prizes, shopping, and lots of fun. Reservations are required as space is limited, but the evening is on us!
