There's a troubling statistic that's becoming a dark cloud over New Hampshire, as state officials reported that more people have fallen ill from COVID-19 than have received the vaccine.
As of August 23, New Hampshire's official numbers showed that 2,712 people have been infected with the virus in the past two weeks, which is about 8% more than the 2,520 that have been fully vaccinated in the same time period, according to the website Granite Geek.
"New Hampshire has nine COVID deaths in the last month and a 53% vaccination rate. Along with no mask mandates," Denis Martel, a New Hampshire resident, tweeted on Aug. 23.
According to WMUR9, the Granite State already hit its highest point, in terms of test positivity rates since January, as of Aug. 20.
Every county in New Hampshire has also experienced substantial transmission of COVID-19, WMUR9 reported.
More than 20% of all infections in the state were among children, and at this point, Manchester had the most active cases of COVID-19 overall in the state, Patch reported. As of August 20, New Hampshire had 2,191 active cases, with a total of 104,571 cumulative cases since the start of the pandemic last March.
