Town of Northfield issued the following announcement on September 8.

The Town of Northfield has implemented a Pay As You Throw program at the Transfer Station. Residents will be allowed to purchase bags at the Town Hall during normal business hours of the Administration/Selectmen’s Office Mon – Fri 8:30am – 5:00pm. This program is for those who may have excess trash over and above what is allowed at the curbside. 

•    16-gallon bags $2.00 per bag

•    33-gallon bags $4.00 per bag

Cash or Check accepted; a $25.00 fee will be assessed for any bounced checks and future payments by check will not be allowed. 

Bags can only contain regular household trash; hazardous materials, construction and demo are not allowed. 

Bags can be filled and brought to the Transfer Station during normal business hours, you must see the attendant prior to dumping in the designated dumpster. Any unauthorized dumping will be subject to the fines and penalties specified in the Illegal Dumping Ordinance.
