Town of Tamworth: Volunteers for Carroll County Communication District

6b4dcdbx5bct7f25npv7rha5ye

Town of Tamworth issued the following announcement on October 18.

Carroll County Broadband (CCBroadband) has been focused on this issue for the last two plus years and is now supported by recent State Legislation that makes it easier to do planning, facilitate partnerships, apply for grants, take advantage of financing opportunities and final buildout of broadband infrastructure. The remainder of this letter provides some history of how we got here and, more importantly, how we move forward. The charge of the “communications district planning committee” is spelled out in the statute and will be to develop bylaws, representation and structure for the operation of a “communications district”. The bylaws and structure of operation will need to be approved by the NH Attorney General as stipulated in the statute before we can go to future Town Meetings for public hearings and approvals to actually join the “communications district”.

Forming the “communications district” will allow the district to operate as a municipal district capable of applying for and accepting grants, working with partners, and facilitating the installation of high speed fiber optic broadband internet to the premise for residential and business applications. This is something that the current Carroll County Broadband Committee cannot do as we are only a committee.
