The University of New Hampshire (UNH) men’s cross-country team had a strong showing at the 18th annual Central Connecticut State University (CCSU) Mini Meet.

The Wildcats were led by junior Aidan O’Hern, of Concord, who placed third out of 91 runners, according to The Official Website of the UNH Wildcats.

The race was a 5K and took place at Stanley Quarter Park on Oct. 22. O’Hern had a time of 14:56.8. UNH was proud to take to the internet to tell the Wildcat community about the accomplishment.

“Aidan O’Hern led the men’s cross country team with a third-place finish at the CCSU Mini Meet!,” UNH Wildcats tweeted Oct. 23.

It was also reported that O’Hern was named the America East Performer of the Week for the first time in his running career at UNH.

UNH took fifth place, out of a pool of 12 teams, with a score of 155 points. Yale took the top spot with 47 points for the day.

Freshman Aidan Shea of Amherst, Massachusetts, placed 20th with a time of 15:22.8. Senior Kenny McElroy of West Linn, Oregon, was 36th with a time of 15:45.5. Junior William Curran of Old Saybrook, Connecticut, finished 51st with a time of 16:05.8. Senior Andrew LePage of Morrisonville, New York, had a time of 16:14.9, good for 59th place.

The Wildcats will host the America East Championship, which UNH has won eight times, the most by any current team in the conference and the second-most all-time record. The last time the Wildcats took a title, however, was 2008. UNH also picked up wins in 1998,1999, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2006 and 2007.
