Granite State College issued the following announcement on Dec. 22.
The Granite State College Alumni & Friends Scholarship for the 2022 Winter Term was recently awarded to two deserving students: Stephen Stewart and Haley Grant.
Applicants were asked to submit an essay about their experiences, motivations, goals, and any special circumstances related to their educational goals.
Stephen is pursuing a B.S. in Health Care Management, with the goal of moving into a management role or becoming a radiology assistant. Stephen works full time in the health care industry and described that he has developed a greater appreciation for clinical health care workers during the COVID-19 pandemic. He noted that he has been able to utilize what he has learned at Granite State College in his current role:
“My education at Granite State College has been useful in reorienting aspects of my communication styles, improving my ability to read people’s personalities, and utilize organizational structures that have excelled me to new levels at my organization.”
Haley is pursuing a B.S. in Human Services, with the goal of working for the Division for Children, Youth, and Families. She said she was motivated to return to school so she could be a role model for her two children:
“I want to show my children that no matter the struggles and mistakes that we make in life, we can still turn dreams into reality. Being accepted and enrolling in college has really showed how much determination and hard work I have put into my educational dreams and goals.”
The Alumni & Friends Scholarship is designed to provide financial assistance to eligible Granite State College students who are pursuing a bachelor’s degree. Criteria for selection includes full-time or part-time enrollment in a bachelor’s degree program, having completed a minimum of 12 credits and two terms, and demonstrating need level as determined by FAFSA.
