City of Lebanon issued the following announcement on March 16.
There are so many new plastics to be found in our homes. Items that used to come in aluminum, steel or glass are now being packaged in plastics. These new containers are leaving many people confused about what is and is not recyclable at the Lebanon Recycling Center.
One item creating quite a stir is plastic clamshells. These plastic containers hold items such as spinach, lettuce, slices of cake, and other prepared foods. Unfortunately, these containers are NOT recyclable at the Lebanon Recycling Center. We have looked for a vendor that will accept these and have not found one.
Other typical plastics the Recycling Center staff sees that are not recyclable include toys, pails, hoses, laundry baskets, flowerpots, and black plastics. Unfortunately, these items will be pulled out and disposed of as trash.
Please help us by only recycling bottles, tubs, jugs, and jars.
Try our Recycling App - The app allows patrons to scan their waste items to better understand what is acceptable and unacceptable at the Lebanon Recycling Center.
