(Washington, DC) – On May 9, 2023, Congresswoman Annie Kuster (NH-02), U.S. Senator Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH), U.S. Senator Maggie Hassan (D-NH), and Congressman Chris Pappas (NH-01) announced that New Hampshire will receive a total of $4,732,381 in funding from AmeriCorps and the American Rescue Plan to support community projects throughout the state. Specifically, this funding will support programs managed by City Year, Inc., For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology (FIRST), Goodwill Industries of Northern New England, the New Hampshire Coalition Against Domestic and Sexual Violence and the Student Conservation Association. “AmeriCorps members are a critical resource for the communities they serve – I am thrilled to see this significant funding heading to New Hampshire to support their important and diverse work,” said Congresswoman Annie Kuster. “From expanding educational opportunities for students to supporting sexual violence survivors and conserving our environment, these resources will help ensure New Hampshire remains a wonderful place to live, work, and raise a family.”

“I’m excited to see more than $4.7 million in new AmeriCorps and American Rescue Plan funding heading to our state to support STEM education, domestic and sexual violence survivors and environmental protection projects. “AmeriCorps volunteers play a critical role in strengthening our communities, improving quality of life for Granite Staters, and fostering a dedication to public service in younger generations,” said Congressman Chris Pappas. “These grants will support volunteers across New Hampshire who are focused on a range of issues from education to environmental conservation, and more. I’ll continue working to support service programs like AmeriCorps that foster civic engagement, spur economic growth, and strengthen our communities.”

Through the FY 2023 AmeriCorps State and National Grant Competition, seven successful grantees operating in New Hampshire will receive $3,810,737 in competitive funding from AmeriCorps to support approximately 250 AmeriCorps members. After successfully completing their service, these AmeriCorps members are expected to earn $1,213,397 in Segal AmeriCorps Education Awards. Volunteer NH!, the state service commission, will also receive $921,644 in formula funding, which will in turn be awarded to state organizations to support additional AmeriCorps members in the coming months.
