On Oct. 20, members of the Hampton River Boat Club found a body in the river, and the police are currently investigating the case, according to reporting by Seacoastonline.
The investigation is being conducted by the New Hampshire State Police and the New Hampshire Marine Patrol.
“Police are investigating an unattended death after a body was discovered Wednesday in the Hampton River near the Boat Club,” Hampton Union tweeted on Oct. 20.
Hampton Police Deputy Chief Alex Reno assured the local population that there is no public danger related to the death.
New Hampshire’s Marine Patrol is in charge of the investigation since the body was found floating in the water.
A Hampton woman, Debra O’Brien, came forward Oct. 21 claiming that the body likely belonged to her nephew, Andrew Parker, who has been missing since Sept. 21. However, the state’s chief medical examiner’s office will be performing an autopsy to confirm the cause of death and the identity of the body.
“I’ve thought from day one he went out in the marsh,” O'Brien said, according to Seacoastonline. "It kills me." O'Brien, who says her 31-year-old nephew was suffering from depression and couldn't swim, believes he may have died by suicide.
