A New Hampshire man is facing criminal charges for allegedly posing as a minor and engaging in sexual activity with someone he knew was underage, according to a report from 7 News Boston.
Twenty-five-year-old David A. Carkin, Jr., was arrested on Nov. 9 by police and U.S. Marshals executing an arrest warrant on counts of felonious sexual assault, sexual assault, prohibited use of computer services, indecent exposure and lewdness, and criminal threatening.
"Tips led U.S. Marshals to find Samuel Jeff Warren in Somersworth; members also helped Merrimack police arrest David Carkin of Gilmanton," Milford NH Patch tweeted Nov. 10.
Police started an investigation into Carkin in June after receiving a complaint alleging sexual assault and discovered that he had posed as a minor on the internet and had sexual relations with someone he knew was under the age of 16, according to the Merrimack Police Department.
He also reportedly threatened to disclose graphic images of the victim if they reported his alleged crimes.
Carkin, who refused bail upon his arrest, was taken to the Hillsborough County House of Corrections.
Anyone with information regarding the case may contact Merrimack police at 603-424-3774.
