The Transfer Station Improvement Committee (TSIC) and the Tamworth SelectBoard had some exciting news this week! Tamworth has been awarded a USDA Grant that will cover 35% of the total project cost to renovate the transfer station.
Now that the funding is in place, the work of refining the transfer station design can begin. We hope to continue to address concerns that were raised, incorporate your suggestions and answer questions in the future. TSIC meetings are open to the public. (Meeting dates and further information is provided on the Tamworth Town Website. Zoom option available upon request to ellenlynnfarnum@gmail.com.)
The transfer station is a critical piece of our town’s infrastructure and disposing of our trash continues to become a larger, more complex, and more costly undertaking. The committee is looking forward to what will be needed in the next 10 to 20 years to minimize the costs of responsibly handling and disposing of what we consider to be waste.
Our group would like to thank the Tamworth Foundation for the generous donation of $125,000 to help offset expense to the taxpayer. Their support has been invaluable!
TSIC will continue to look for other grant opportunities to reduce the burden to taxpayers.
Thank you all for your support,
Transfer Station Improvement Committee and the Tamworth Select Board
