Hanover, N.H. — On May 1, 2023, Congresswoman Annie Kuster (NH-02) toured Summer Park Residences I, a 24-unit housing project which provides a safe and affordable place for people 62 and older and those with disabilities to live, and met with Twin Pines Housing staff and leadership to discuss the need for more affordable housing options in New Hampshire. During the visit, Kuster highlighted federal funding she helped deliver to develop more housing options, expand the workforce, and strengthen our local economy.
“Affordable Housing is a critical component of a healthy economy and a thriving workforce — but for too many, safe, quality housing is too far out of reach,” said Kuster. “That’s why federal investments in affordable housing and projects like the Summer Park Residences are so important. Thank you to the Twin Pines Housing staff for meeting with me and showing me the incredible work they do for our state and communities. I look forward to the positive impact this project and those like it will have on New Hampshire.”
“We were excited to show Representative Kuster our Summer Park Community Housing and for her to see first-hand how it has benefited vulnerable seniors in the Upper Valley community,” said Andrew Winter, Executive Director of Twin Pines Housing. “We are certainly grateful that Representative Kuster is 'in our corner' when it comes to seeking funding for affordable housing in our region."
Kuster, a key supporter of the bipartisan LIFELINE Act, which was instrumental in unlocking an additional $8 billion for affordable housing in the American Rescue Plan, is a fierce advocate for affordable housing expansion and development. She also helped pass the Inflation Reduction Act, game-changing legislation which took historic action to lower the cost of living for Granite Staters across the board.
